about

In 2022, Roses Are Red collaborated with shesaid.so South Africa and Reform Radio on a British Council funded training programme. RAR founder Rose Bonica partnered with these organizations to facilitate a 6-month Music Production and Online Radio Training programme for women and gender minorities in the Western Cape of South Africa.

The incredible musicians and producers who participated in the programme were empowered with the knowledge and skills to create their own music, curate radio shows and have a better understanding of how to navigate the music industry.

At the beginning of March 2023, Reform Radio and Rhythm Lab Records released an EP showcasing 3 of the trainees from the programme and on 31 March 2023 RAR will be releasing an EP featuring another 3 of the trainees.

Come Cry With Us Volume 1 is the beginning of a new EP compilation series by Roses Are Red that will feature artists and genres that share the work ethic and creativity that resonates with the label’s ethos while not necessarily being the dark, sweaty dance music you have come to expect from the label.

The idea behind Come Cry With Us is one of embracing the human experience, that life can present you with obstacles and challenges and the way you meet these, the lessons you learn and the beauty you can find in these experiences will result in an outcome you can be proud of and perspectives you will want to openly share with the world. The artists featured on this EP have learnt, grown and flourished throughout the time we have shared with them. The music is a showcase of this hard work and passion.
